To support and enhance seismic interpretations, Black Marlin employs a diverse range of advanced and sensitive petroleum geochemical analysis techniques, include conventional petroleum geochemistry and Gore surface geochemical analysis.

Black Marlin makes considerable logistical cost savings in both land and transition zones by geochemical sampling in conjunction with the seismic surveys. The geochemical data is used to locate and delineate areas with greater hydrocarbon potential. The Gore Sorber technique uniquely measures hydrocarbons up to the equivalent of C20, enabling
thermogenic hydrocarbons to be recorded.
