Black Marlin employs a customised 1000kg piston seabed corer rig system that has been successfully used in water depths up to 4000m.
Seabed coring
In 2007, a wholly owned Black Marlin subsidiary signed an exclusive agreement with WL Gore to provide land, marine and transition zone surface geochemistry services. The patented GORETM Module, with its vapour-permeable membrane and proprietary sorbent mix, enables the capture of microseepage signals from interstitial hydrocarbon gases. Compared to macroseepage detection where only a minority of samples contain sufficient hydrocarbons, the GORETM Survey provides a more detailed analysis and interpretation.
