The Board of Directors of BMEL is fully committed to maintaining safe systems of work and fully recognises its overall responsibility for creating a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, subsidiary employees, contractors and third party personnel.

The Board demonstrates this commitment by:

  • Establishing safe and healthy procedures and practices in all areas of operations and striving towards an incident-free workplace
  • Providing properly engineered facilities, plant and equipment and maintaining them in a safe and secure condition
  • Integrating Health and Safety issues into all business decisions
  • Making Line Managers responsible and accountable for the Health and Safety performance of the company, the implementation of the policy and for the meeting of Health and Safety objectives
  • Promoting openness and participation in healthy and safe matters
  • Providing training to enable employees to work in a safe and healthy way
  • Complying with local, national and international regulations, legislation, guidelines and industry best practices

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Environmental responsibility is incorporated into the BMEL HSE Management System to assure implementation of environmentally responsible operating practices. The company, its subsidiaries and its employees will strive to operate in harmony with the environments in which we work.

We are committed to:

  • Undertake all operations with proper regard for the environment and endeavour to mitigate or minimize the impact on the ecosystems
  • Reduce waste and the consumption of materials, fuel and energy
  • Dispose of all waste in a manner which meets or exceeds internationally accepted standards and local regulations
  • Reduce, and avoid where practicable, emissions and discharges
  • Provide training and awareness programmes for employees
  • Participate in suitable environmental initiatives
  • Work closely with clients, contractors, third party agencies and local communities to achieve common environmental goals
  • Reduce the adverse environmental effects of new developments to a level that is as low as is reasonably practicable
  • Respect local archaeological and religious sites
